This November, Colorado Veterans Project is hosting a run in City Park to provide the community an opportunity to unite and honor our nation’s heroes. Recognized as “Denver’s Run for Veterans Day” by Mayor Michael Hancock, the Denver Veterans Day Run is a memorial 5k and 10k fun run that is open to all runners, joggers, and walkers. Here are 10 reasons to register for the 2017 Denver Veterans Day Race on November 5th:
Exclusive Race T-Shirt and Finisher Medal
Each year, Colorado Veterans Project designs new run t-shirts and finisher medals. These are available on a first come, first serve basis so make sure to pre-register to guarantee you get this year’s swag!
Support Local Veterans
100% of your registration (and donations!) goes directly to helping Colorado Veterans. The Denver Veterans Day Run is hosted by Colorado Veterans Project, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that hosts special events in order to raise awareness and funds for local Veteran organizations. Our mission is to enhance pride and patriotism in all Coloradans by building a stronger, more supportive community around our Veterans.
Draw Inspiration from Fellow Runners
Network with your local community and hear inspiring stories and motives for participation. Meet disabled Veterans running the course and mingle with civilians who are running for a military family member.
Be Ridiculously Patriotic
Go ahead, deck yourself out in red, white, and blue. Eat some bacon for breakfast. Shout “Murica!” and proclaim your feelings of pride and patriotism.
Fun for the Whole Family
The 5K or 10K routes can be a leisurely stroll through the park, or a competitive race – that’s up to you! Enjoy the morning with the youngsters, your neighbors, or even your dog. Kids 12 and under get FREE entry (no T-shirt, timing bib, or medal) and strollers are welcome since our course is on all paved surfaces.
All routes are chip-timed, and the course is USATF-certified. Want to show your true motivation and dedication in our toughest competition yet? Test your mettle this year with the Rippetoe Rucksack Challenge. Bring a 25lb ruck or backpack to the event and race against some of Denver’s toughest competitors on the 10k route. Rippetoe Rucksack Challenge champion will be awarded a special prize.
Enjoy Beautiful Views of City Park
The scenic routes take you on a tour of City Park, going around Ferril Lake and showcasing great views of the City Park Pavilion and foothill mountains. Both completely paved routes will end where they began, where participants can enjoy the Vendor/Expo Area after the race.
Cheer on Colorado Veterans at the Finish Line
Join spectators at the finish line after you complete your race to cheer on the Veterans completing the 10k Ruck March and show your support and solidarity around our Veteran community.
Run in your Silkies
Join the Veteran’s movement of humor and camaraderie and rock those silkies on the route!
Early Bird Pricing
Early Bird pricing is only available until October 22nd. Prices increase on Monday, October 23rd!
