Hill Garbo

Board Director

Hill Garbo is a former U.S. Navy Submarine Officer who served for five years before making Colorado his home. Following his military service, he transitioned into finance, quickly establishing himself as a rising professional in public finance investment banking. Currently, he is an associate at Piper Sandler, where he works on an industry-leading team specializing in special district financing across Colorado.

During his time in the Navy, Hill was a top-ranked Junior Officer aboard an Ohio-class guided missile submarine, leading a 170-person crew through three overseas deployments in the Atlantic and Indian Oceans. On his final deployment, which marked the first-ever Ohio-class submarine mission to the Persian Gulf, he was selected as the sole Junior Officer to serve as “Officer of the Deck” during the midnight shift, overseeing a 35-person watch team conducting complex operations in enemy waters. Among his most memorable achievements in the Navy, Hill proudly earned his Shellback after crossing the equator north of Madagascar.

Hill has a deep commitment to supporting the veteran community. Inspired by his grandfather, a World War II veteran who played an influential role in his life, Hill pursued his education at the United States Naval Academy, earning a degree in Quantitative Economics and Econometrics. Since leaving the service, he has built strong connections within the USNA Alumni Association and the Colorado business community. He leverages these relationships to support veteran-focused initiatives and is dedicated to making a lasting impact through the Colorado Veterans Project.

Outside of work, Hill is an avid outdoorsman who thrives in the mountains. His weekends are filled with skiing, mountain biking, camping, and anything that keeps him active. Physical fitness is a priority, as is spending time with family, friends, and his energetic Blue Heeler, Queen, who ensures he never stays still for long.
